18/02/2017 What's new is a story from Phil and Diane when they were children. I know, you probably thought Phil was with Lizzie and that was it, but no, he has a history I hope to reveal as their story develops. I'm not quite sure if this relationship should be exposed right now, but I have to move the characters on. I just hope to do it so it all makes sense to the reader. I have been thinking about my blog and seriously considering the need for it if I am doing a what's new page as well. I knew a blog would be difficult as I've probably said, I am not a diarist.

A seriously wild and wet day in February. Visited a new coffee house for a fruit scone today. I've got a thing about scones and am highly critical and a bit anal in my opinion of them. I can't help it. I know people to be critical of soup, you know, the proper kind, like scotch broth, lentil with bits of ham, leek and potato. Others are very particular about their cup of tea or coffee. We all know just how we like it and woe betide if we don't get it. What makes us like that? I believe we all have something. We are all striving for perfection. I don't know, I'm not sure what I.'m trying to say here.
Anyway, the scone I had was unbutterable, (great new word, take note, you saw it here first. The butter was hard and the scone more like dry pastry. It disintegrated on the plate. I'm not happy but decided to go with it. Then, I discovered a hair in it. I had to return it. I was quite happily reimbursed with a piece of cake as an apology. Now, I decided this hair was rather fortuitous as without it I wouldn't have tried a very yummy cake. I think that means every cloud has a silver lining. Just to let you know, I had written a blog yesterday but lost it when I also lost the mouse. I was pretty much sitting on it. Wasn't too bad a blog either. Poo happens and I wasn't very happy. It was about intelligence and computers as I remember. I thought I had enough intelligence to get through life but then I bought a computer and realised I knew not very much about not very much. I'd entered a strange world of downloads, uploads, jpegs, html, back up files, save, save as, copy, paste, and much more I haven't got my head round yet. I know enough to get by. I think.
However, Iv'e had another thought on that train. Do you remember at school the subjects you had to learn? Could you work them all out? No? Neither could I. I'm just not that academically minded. I sat through physics not having a clue. Algebra? History was a boredom of such magnitude I fell asleep. Geography, to my shame has been restricted to the places I go on holiday. I could go on. Now history is interesting in the modern day machinations of politics. It's happening now. What I remember learning was to read and write. I remember the wonder of understanding letters and the way words are formed. What a revelation! Now I have a hobby that only requires pen, paper and imagination. I probably will get through life with the intelligence I've been blessed with. Another pure genius thing I found out recently, is, when you run out of toilet roll, cut a roll of kitchen paper in half and hang it on the toilet roll hanger. Nobody will know. So I am told. |
AuthorI enjoy writing short stories and reading yours. I'm always amazed at where our mind can take us. I think it is therapeutic to let your mind wander off and free itself of personal drudgery. Archives
